The Italian Competition Authority has initiated six investigative proceedings against six influencers who allegedly promised easy and certain earnings through deceptive advertising practices. Luca Marani, Big Luca, Alessandro Berton, and Davide Caiazzo were found to promote methods for obtaining substantial earnings without clearly disclosing the advertising nature of the content or providing essential information for purchasing decisions. Additionally, their popularity was suspected to be inflated by fake followers and unverifiable testimonials.
Hamza Mourai and Michele Leka were also targeted for advertising methods related to investing in cryptocurrencies without mentioning associated risks or adequately informing consumers about the promotional nature of their communications.
Furthermore, the Authority issued moral suasion to Ludovica Meral Frasca, Sofia Giaele De DonĂ , Milena Miconi, and Alessandra Ventura for posting content on Instagram promoting brands, hotels, and tourist facilities without disclosing the commercial purpose. These influencers were also suspected of having a significant number of fake followers, distorting their popularity.
