The G7 Competition Summit will take place on Thursday 3 and Friday 4 October in Rome, at the headquarters of the AGCM. The meeting will bring together the delegations from the group’s seven member countries (Canada, France, Germany, Japan, Italy, the United Kingdom and the United States) as well as the European Commission. A total of 35 delegates are expected to attend.


The event will feature two closed-door working sessions scheduled for the afternoon of 3 October and the morning of 4 October. The first session will focus on current and future horizon scanning and enforcement activities; the second will address policy and regulatory issues. The overarching theme of the discussions will be artificial intelligence (AI) and the related competition issues, considering the transformative impact of AI on our economy and society.


The G7 will be “a key opportunity to promote cooperation, knowledge exchange and define a common vision on the subject among the member countries”, emphasises Antitrust Chairman Roberto Rustichelli. ‘Once again Rome stands as a city that symbolises dialogue and international cooperation,” Rustichelli notes, “a place to discuss global challenges and opportunities”.
