High-Speed Broadband Dominates Market in Spain in Q2 2024

In the second quarter of 2024, high-speed broadband with speeds of 100 Mbps or more dominated the market in Spain, with fiber connections comprising a significant portion.


In the second quarter of 2024, over 95% of fixed broadband lines in Spain had speeds of 100 Mbps or higher, with fiber connections accounting for 87.8% of all broadband lines. Mobile broadband traffic reached 2.1 million Terabytes.

Despite a 2.4% decrease in retail service revenues compared to the previous year, Movistar, Vodafone, and MASORANGE collectively captured 80.6% of these revenues. Movistar, Vodafone, and MASORANGE also held an 89% share of fixed broadband lines and an 88.6% share of the mobile telephony market.

While these major telecom operators experienced a decline in revenues, open television operators like Mediaset and Atresmedia saw an increase in their revenues. The mobile broadband traffic saw an 8.3% increase compared to the same period the previous year.
