Vectra and Inflation Clauses - Allegations by the President of the Office of Competition and Consumer Protection (UOKiK)

31.01.2024 | 🇵🇱 Polish competition authority

The President of UOKiK has raised concerns about Vectra's unilateral changes to customer contracts, including the use of inflation clauses.

The President of the Office of Competition and Consumer Protection (UOKiK) has accused Vectra, a mobile operator, of applying unfair contract terms by unilaterally increasing subscription fees for customers based on the inflation rate. The UOKiK has raised concerns about the lack of transparency and clarity in Vectra's contract terms, as well as the potential for customers to bear the full responsibility for changing economic conditions. If the allegations are confirmed, Vectra could face a fine of up to 10% of its turnover. The UOKiK is also investigating other telecom operators and monitoring the real estate development sector for similar practices.
