The CNMC is conducting inspections at the premises of several companies operating in the market for consulting and technical assistance services in engineering. The investigation focuses on potential agreements and/or concerted practices for the allocation of tenders in the field of road planning, construction, and operation. These inspections are a preliminary step towards the possible initiation of a sanctioning procedure. If evidence of prohibited practices is found, fines of up to 10% of the companies' total turnover may be imposed. The CNMC has a leniency program that allows companies to benefit from exemption or reduction of fines if they provide evidence of cartel behavior. The CNMC also has an online platform for anonymous reporting of anticompetitive practices.
