Energy supplier Kikker Energie has committed to not unilaterally increasing fixed contract rates for approximately 13,000 customers transferred from another supplier, DGB, through a reseller, Volti. This commitment follows ACM's threat of measures due to concerns over rate hikes without customer consent.
Kikker Energie will offer customers the choice to agree to higher rates, switch to other suppliers, or maintain their existing fixed contracts at lower rates. Customers who had already accepted rate increases can revert to previous conditions within a specified timeframe. ACM will monitor Kikker Energie's compliance closely.
ACM emphasizes the importance of customers being able to rely on agreed-upon gas and electricity supply terms, even after contract transfers. Kikker Energie's financial concerns over loss-making contracts justify its request for voluntary rate adjustments or supplier switches, ensuring customer choice. The company aims to finalize contract adjustments for all former DGB customers by September 30, 2024.
