12.06.2024 | 🇱🇻 Latvian competition authority
The Latvian Competition Council fined SIA 'Mirastyle' for engaging in resale price maintenance with certain retailers and sharing commercially sensitive information for market allocation, aiming to restrict competition in the lighting products market in Latvia.
SIA 'Mirastyle' is the exclusive distributor of several lighting products manufacturers in Latvia, operating in wholesale and retail levels, including owning 'Gaismas maģija' stores in Riga and an online store delivering products across the EU.
The Competition Council found that SIA 'Mirastyle' set resale prices for retailers and exchanged commercially sensitive information with competitors, leading to the restriction of retailers' ability to independently set retail prices for lighting products, instead imposing a uniform higher price.
Additionally, SIA 'Mirastyle' engaged in market allocation by exchanging commercially sensitive information with competitors, resulting in the rejection of orders from retailers who did not develop lighting design projects themselves, ultimately restricting competition.
As the initiator of the infringement, SIA 'Mirastyle' was solely held responsible for the violation, with the Competition Council applying a fine of €34,490.26 for the competition law breach.
