The CNMC has initiated a sanctioning proceeding against Rheinmetall for allegedly obstructing its work by providing incomplete and misleading information during the notification of its acquisition of Expal Systems. The company may have violated Article 62.3.c) of the Competition Defense Act. The CNMC had previously authorized the acquisition in February 2023 but opened an investigation after receiving information that Rheinmetall's notification may have been incomplete and misleading. The investigation will determine if the company's actions constitute a serious infringement of competition law and could result in a fine of up to 5% of the company's total turnover in the previous year. The proceeding is expected to be concluded within a maximum period of 3 months.
