E-commerce in Spain experienced a substantial 13.7% year-on-year increase in the first quarter of 2024, totaling €21.793 billion in revenue, as reported by CNMCData.
The top-grossing sectors were travel agencies and tour operators, accounting for 10.3% of total revenue, followed by air transport at 6.6% and clothing at 6.3%.
Over 412 million transactions were recorded in Q1 2024, marking a 13.7% rise, with gambling and betting leading in terms of sales at 7.2%.
Geographically, 41.7% of revenues were domestic, while 58.3% were from purchases originating in Spain but made abroad.
The net external balance showed a deficit of €9.974 billion, with Spain importing more through e-commerce than exporting.
