The CNMC and the European Commission have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to collaborate through joint investigative teams under the Digital Markets Act (DMA). This agreement aims to ensure that large online platforms, acting as gatekeepers, do not impose unfair conditions on businesses and users.
The DMA guarantees fair behavior from major online platforms, preventing them from imposing unjust conditions on companies and end-users, and ensuring the openness of their digital services.
The President of the CNMC, Cani Fern谩ndez, and the Director-General of Competition of the European Commission, Olivier Guersent, have expressed their commitment to cooperate in promoting competition and the proper functioning of the Spanish and European digital markets.
The MoU ensures cooperation between the CNMC and the European Commission, allowing CNMC staff to participate in European Commission projects, initiatives, and research teams in cases where the DMA impacts the Spanish market. This collaboration will help in applying European regulations and gaining expertise in the field without affecting the European Commission's DMA enforcement powers.
