The Netherlands Authority for Consumers and Markets (ACM) has published draft guidelines for online service providers to assist them in preparing for compliance with the Digital Services Act (DSA) in the European Union. The DSA aims to create a safe and trustworthy online environment and introduces new obligations for providers of online services. The guidelines cover topics such as dispute settlement, dealing with illegal content, protection of minors, and prevention of dark patterns. Market participants falling under the DSA, including online platforms, search engines, marketplaces, broadband providers, and hosting service providers, have until February 16, 2024, to submit their opinions on the draft guidelines. ACM will be responsible for enforcing compliance with the DSA in the Netherlands once it comes into effect on February 17, 2024.
