27.08.2024 | 🇧🇪 Belgian competition authority
The Belgian Competition Authority has given the green light to Jobes Holding's acquisition of sole control in G&A Motors. The concentration was notified on August 1, 2024, with a request for a simplified procedure. Jobes Holding is a merged entity of BMW/MINI concession groups Jorssen, Beliën, and Sneyers, operating as an authorized distributor of BMW and/or MINI vehicles in Antwerp and Limburg. G&A Motors, on the other hand, operates as an authorized BMW and MINI distributor in Antwerp.
Both Jobes Holding and G&A Motors have overlapping activities in Antwerp and Limburg, particularly in the markets for sales of new and used passenger cars, maintenance and repair services, and sales of spare parts for passenger cars and light commercial vehicles. The BCA's decision on August 26, 2024, concluded that the conditions for the simplified procedure were met, and no objections were raised regarding the acquisition.
The Belgian Competition Authority (BCA) is an independent administrative body responsible for enforcing competition policy in Belgium. It focuses on combating anti-competitive practices like cartels and abuses of dominance, as well as reviewing major merger operations. The BCA collaborates with other competition authorities in the EU and the European Commission through the European Competition Network (ECN).
