CCPC opens full investigation into proposed sale of Inishowen Independent publisher to Formpress Publishing

The Competition and Consumer Protection Commission (CCPC) is to carry out a full investigation into the proposed purchase by Formpress Publishing of D&D Media. D&D Media are the owners of the Inishowen Independent newspaper in Donegal and its website inishowenindo.ie. Formpress Publishing owns and operates a number of local and regional newspaper titles across Ireland.


The proposed transaction (M/24/026) was notified to the CCPC in April 2024. The CCPC invites submissions from interested parties by email to mergers@ccpc.ie by 4:30pm on 28 August 2024.

CCPC Launches Full Investigation into Acquisition of Inishowen Independent Publisher

The Competition and Consumer Protection Commission (CCPC) has initiated a full investigation into the planned acquisition of D&D Media by Formpress Publishing. D&D Media currently owns the Inishowen Independent newspaper and its associated website in Donegal, while Formpress Publishing operates various local and regional newspaper titles throughout Ireland.

The transaction, notified to the CCPC in April 2024 under reference M/24/026, has prompted the CCPC to seek submissions from interested parties via email by 28 August 2024.

Due to the ongoing nature of the investigation, the CCPC is unable to disclose any additional details regarding the matter at this stage.
