The UOKiK imposed fines totaling over 592,000 PLN on companies involved in bid-rigging for renovation and construction services, where bidders colluded to ensure the selection of more expensive offers. The companies failed to comply with tender requirements or withdrew bids to favor the colluding participant offering a higher price.
Another decision targeted bid-rigging among transport companies providing school transportation services in Lublin, resulting in fines of almost 54,000 PLN. Similar to the construction sector, companies coordinated their offers to manipulate the tender process in favor of higher-priced bids.
The maximum penalty for bid-rigging can reach 10% of a company's turnover. While the decision on school transportation tenders is final, some companies in the construction sector have appealed the UOKiK's rulings. UOKiK encourages reporting anti-competitive practices through an anonymous informant program.
