UOKiK's Call for Reporting Unfair Practices by Retail Chains

27.03.2024 | 🇵🇱 Polish competition authority

UOKiK is urging suppliers of agri-food products to report any unfair practices by retail chains through an anonymous survey.

The President of UOKiK, Tomasz Chróstny, is investigating unfair trading practices in the agri-food sector, having issued over a billion PLN in fines to retail chains. UOKiK has sent out anonymous surveys to industry organizations to gather information on unfair practices. The European Commission is also conducting a survey to monitor unfair practices and assess the effectiveness of national authorities in implementing Directive (EU) 2019/633. Recent decisions by UOKiK have penalized retail chains like Jeronimo Martins Polska, Eurocash, Kaufland Polska, SCA PR, and Auchan Polska for imposing unfair conditions on suppliers. Various industry organizations have received the survey to aid in identifying and addressing unfair practices.
