The European Union (EU) Twinning project in Georgia, led by the Competition Council in partnership with Lithuanian and Austrian institutions, concluded with a final event in Tbilisi. Over the two-year project, training sessions and events were organized to enhance Georgia's competition and consumer protection framework, resulting in a notable increase in the alignment of the country's competition legislation with EU standards. Deputy Chairwoman Irma Urmonaitė highlighted the project's positive impact on competition and consumer protection in Georgia, emphasizing the importance of sharing best practices and legislative amendments.<br> The project included visits for Georgian Competition and Consumer Agency staff to Lithuania to learn from EU member state institutions' experiences and practices. With a budget of €1.2 million funded by the EU, the initiative aimed to strengthen the culture of competition and consumer protection in Georgia by providing practical assistance and knowledge sharing. The project's success was evident in the progress made by Georgian institutions in adjusting legal norms and enhancing employees' capabilities in competition and consumer protection.
