Competition Authority Approves Sale of OK Fuel Stations

17.12.2024 | 🇩🇰 Danish competition authority

The Danish Competition Authority has approved the sale of three fuel stations from OK to local cooperatives, ensuring fair competition in the market following OK's merger with Coop Danmark.

The Danish Competition Authority, led by Chairman Christian Schultz, has approved the acquisition of three fuel stations from OK by local cooperatives. This decision comes in light of concerns that the merger between OK and Coop Danmark could negatively impact consumers in the areas of Høng, Gedser, and Otterup.

In June 2024, the Competition Authority had previously approved OK's takeover of Coop Danmark, which included 598 grocery stores and 160 fuel stations. As part of this merger approval, OK committed to selling the three fuel stations in question to maintain competitive conditions in the market.

The approved buyers, Søndersø Brugsforening and Kalundborg Brugsforening, will acquire the fuel stations in Otterup, Høng, and Gedser. The Competition Authority's approval was necessary to ensure that these sales align with OK's commitments made during the merger process.

Additionally, the Competition Authority must also verify that OK's leasing agreements comply with the commitments before the merger conditions are fully satisfied.
