The UOKiK President's recent decision requires Travelist to provide clear information on its platform about the sellers and the responsibilities of both the sellers and the platform itself in fulfilling contracts. This is in accordance with the Omnibus Directive aimed at enhancing consumer protection in the digital realm.
Travelist.pl was found to lack essential information mandated by the Omnibus Directive, making it difficult for users to understand their rights and obligations when making purchases on the platform. The UOKiK President emphasized that transparent information is crucial for consumers to make informed decisions and seek recourse if needed.
As part of the decision, Travelist is required to prominently display information clarifying that the offers on the platform come from sellers who are responsible for contract execution, while the platform is accountable for its functionality, such as booking, payments, and reviews. Additionally, users who filed complaints regarding the lack of information transparency will receive a 50 PLN credit for future use on Travelist.pl.
The UOKiK President's actions extend beyond Travelist, with various other platforms like Glovo, Uber Eats, and Aliexpress also facing scrutiny for compliance with the Omnibus Directive. The UOKiK has initiated proceedings against companies like Zalando and Booking, highlighting the broader enforcement efforts in ensuring information transparency in e-commerce.
