European Economic Regulators Discuss Enhanced Scope and Cooperation

French regulatory authorities recently convened to discuss European legislation and cooperation on economic regulation.


The biannual meeting hosted by the French audiovisual and digital communication regulator brought together various independent administrative and public authorities working in economic regulation. Discussions centered around recent French and European legislation expanding their activities, such as regulations on digital services, media freedom, and corporate sustainability reporting.

The meeting also covered current European discussions relevant to the authorities' work, including topics like telecoms, mobility data, gambling regulation, and the development of artificial intelligence. Additionally, the authorities addressed cross-functional issues, cooperation mechanisms, and the sustainable design of digital services.

Furthermore, a working group on the use of artificial intelligence tools was established to enhance the effectiveness and integration of regulation. The authorities aim to align their actions with the European landscape for more cohesive regulation.

Attendees included representatives from various French authorities like the competition authority, national gambling authority, financial regulator, and energy regulator, among others.
