The CNMC has fined Correo Inteligente Postal S.L. and Hispapost, S.A. for failing to properly handle and manage mail deliveries in Palma de Mallorca.


The CNMC has penalized Correo Inteligente Postal S.L. and Hispapost, S.A. for abandoning mail in Palma de Mallorca, a serious violation of postal regulations. The operators were found to have breached their duty of fidelity in handling mail deliveries, resulting in fines of €186,668 and €44,000, respectively. The investigation was triggered after police discovered a significant number of abandoned mail items in the city. Despite the penalties, Correo Inteligente Postal retrieved and successfully delivered 6,758 recoverable letters to their intended recipients.
