27.06.2024 | 🇫🇷 French competition authority
CMA CGM, a group operating in sea freight transport and media, sought to acquire Altice Media, a subsidiary of Altice France, which owns various TV channels, radio stations, and news websites.
The French Competition Authority identified a risk of foreclosure for competitors of La Provence, a local newspaper, due to the merger with local TV channels overlapping in broadcast areas.
To prevent harm to competition, CMA CGM agreed to behavioral remedies, including refraining from combining ad space sales between La Provence and the local TV channels, keeping advertising departments separate, and appointing an independent monitoring trustee.
