31.01.2024 | 🇵🇱 Polish competition authority

The EU has launched a twinning project to strengthen the capacities of the Georgian Market Surveillance Agency, with the participation of Poland, Lithuania, and Germany.

The European Union has initiated a twinning project in Tbilisi, Georgia, to enhance the capabilities of the Georgian Market Surveillance Agency, funded by EU resources. The project involves the Office of Competition and Consumer Protection of Poland, the State Consumer Rights Protection Authority of Lithuania, and the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate Action of Germany. The aim is to support Georgian partners in developing legislative changes aligned with EU regulatory best practices, including training on key aspects of EU market surveillance directives. This collaboration aims to prepare the Georgian Market Surveillance Agency, businesses, and consumers for regulatory challenges. The project consists of three components: Poland focuses on strengthening legal frameworks, Germany oversees institutional capacity building, and Lithuania coordinates efforts to increase engagement and awareness among stakeholders. Twinning projects are an EU instrument for institutional cooperation between EU member states and beneficiary or partner countries, combining specialized knowledge to achieve operational goals through peer-to-peer partnerships.
