Latvian Competition Council Approves Acquisition in Waste Management Sector

22.09.2024 | 🇱🇻 Latvian competition authority

Latvia's Competition Council has approved the acquisition of SIA 'Lautus' by SIA 'Clean R' in the waste management sector, citing no significant harm to competition.

Latvia's Competition Council (KP) has granted permission for SIA 'Clean R' to acquire decisive influence over SIA 'Lautus', operating in various waste management services in Riga and Pieriga, including hazardous waste and healthcare waste management.

The merger will result in Lautus continuing its operations, while certain services will be provided by a subsidiary of Clean R, offering Lautus clients a wider range of services.

The planned acquisition does not affect household waste management by 'Lautus Vide', ensuring continuity for existing customers.

KP concluded that the merger will not significantly alter market structure, reduce competition, or establish a dominant position in affected markets in Latvia, hence approving the deal.
