CCPC Seeks Input on Competition Law Settlement Procedures

11.08.2024 | 🇮🇪 Irish competition authority

The CCPC is seeking feedback on a new procedure for settling competition law investigations, allowing parties under investigation to reach agreements with the authority.

The Competition and Consumer Protection Commission (CCPC) in Ireland has launched a public consultation on a proposed settlement procedure for competition law investigations. This initiative follows the enactment of the Competition (Amendment) Act 2022, which granted the CCPC expanded enforcement powers in enforcing EU and Irish competition laws, including the ability to impose fines on violators.

The Settlement Procedure outlines the CCPC's intended approach to engaging in discussions and reaching settlements with parties suspected of breaching competition law. Interested stakeholders are encouraged to provide their feedback on this proposed process by the deadline of 20 September 2024.

More details on the consultation and related developments in competition law enforcement in 2022 can be found on the CCPC's website.
