The Netherlands Authority for Consumers and Markets (ACM) has fined Global Marketing Bridge B.V. and its executives for misleading consumers in telemarketing calls involving energy contracts.

The Netherlands ACM fined telemarketing firm Global Marketing Bridge B.V. (GMB) 400,000 euros for misleading consumers in energy contract telemarketing calls. Executives of GMB were also fined 50,000 and 65,000 euros for directing employees to make misleading calls. Consumers were misled about the purpose of the calls, with telemarketers failing to clearly disclose they were selling energy contracts. ACM's investigation revealed deceptive practices, leading to fines and a warning to energy suppliers to ensure compliance by intermediaries offering their contracts. Manon Leijten of ACM emphasized the importance of preventing aggressive and misleading customer-acquisition practices in the energy sector.
