The CNMC has provided guidance on the elaboration and dissemination of guidelines for the assessment of costs, in response to a consultation from the College of Civil Engineers. The CNMC highlights that fees for engineers should be freely determined, with the exception of guidelines for the assessment of costs. The guidelines should be based on a plurality of factors and should not include any numerical or quantitative references. The CNMC recommends that professional associations evaluate their guidelines in accordance with the doctrine of the Supreme Court and the CNMC. The CNMC also suggests that the College of Civil Engineers amend its statutes to remove the approval of fee scales as one of its competencies.
