The European Commission has adopted a revised version of its Market Definition Notice, which provides greater transparency and predictability for undertakings and takes into account changes in the economy, including the development of digital markets. The revised Notice is the culmination of an in-depth review process and aims to clarify the methodology for defining the market under EU competition law. The Autorité de la concurrence welcomes the adoption of the revised Notice. The revised Notice is the first update since its adoption in 1997 and is based on close cooperation between the European Commission and national competition authorities within the European Competition Network (ECN), as well as a public consultation.
