Clear Channel Danmark has accepted a six million kroner fine for violating competition law by coordinating discount rates with a competitor in the sale of advertising space in outdoor media, such as billboards and advertising stands.
The illegal behavior spanned over several years and may have harmed advertisers purchasing ad space through Clear Channel Danmark or the competitor with coordinated prices.
The company acknowledged the breach and the fine, with mitigating circumstances considered in the penalty calculation.
In the first period from September 5, 2008, to December 31, 2010, Clear Channel Danmark had written agreements with a competitor on shared discount rates. This continued in the second period from January 1, 2011, to April 21, 2015, without written proof of an agreement post-2010.
The severity and duration of the violation, as well as the company's global revenue, were factors in determining the fine size. Clear Channel Danmark's full admission of the breach in both periods was seen as a mitigating factor.
