The Trade Inspection Authority conducted a thorough examination of 362 toy models to assess their safety and labeling. The results were concerning, with 25% of the toys identified as having significant safety violations.
Among the most alarming findings were excessive levels of phthalates, a chemical often used in plastics, which were found in over 280 instances. Additionally, some toys produced noise levels comparable to a rock concert, raising concerns about potential hearing damage for children.
These findings highlight the urgent need for stricter regulations and oversight in the toy industry to ensure the safety of products intended for children. The spokesperson for UOKiK, Małgorzata Cieloch, emphasized the importance of consumer awareness regarding toy safety.
