In Spain, the deployment of self-consumption installations, especially collective ones, is hindered by the complex procedures to connect to the grid. The Dialogue Table highlighted challenges such as the lack of homogeneity in information and the involvement of multiple stakeholders.
The CNMC convened various stakeholders, including distributors, regulators, and consumer associations, to address issues and suggest improvements for self-consumption. Proposed measures include creating online platforms for tracking applications and enhancing consumer information on energy generation.
Future actions involve the CNMC's Circular on grid access to bring transparency and consistency to procedures, along with facilitating communication between self-consumers' representatives and distribution companies. Initiatives like FAQs by distributors and tools for validating collective self-consumption documentation are recommended.
As of April, Spain had over 529,500 self-consumption installations with a total capacity of 6.3 GW, mostly individual setups. To ensure accurate data on self-consumption progress, a project in collaboration with regional authorities will be launched.
