03.04.2024 | 🇵🇹 Portuguese competition authority
The AdC imposed a €278,000 fine on a national technology consulting company for engaging in anti-competitive practices in the labor market between 2016 and 2021. This is the third company penalized in the sector for restricting competition in labor markets. The company cooperated with the AdC, accepted the charges, and paid the fine under the settlement procedure. The AdC had previously fined two multinational companies in the technology consulting sector for similar practices, with fines of €1,323,000 and €2,481,000, respectively, which were reduced due to collaboration. The AdC's intervention in the labor market began in 2020, with the second case involving no-poach agreements, which limit companies' autonomy in hiring policies and can impact workers' bargaining power and salaries. The AdC has published a Report and Good Practices Guide to prevent such agreements.
