Hungarian Competition Authority Closes Investigation into MVM Next Billing Practices

05.11.2024 | 🇭🇺 Hungarian competition authority

The Hungarian Competition Authority (GVH) has concluded that MVM Next's billing practices do not constitute unfair commercial practices, leading to the termination of the investigation initiated in July regarding the 'rezsibox' issue.

The GVH received a complaint in autumn 2023 concerning MVM Next's billing practices for gas universal service. After examining the complaint and relevant data, the GVH found that the conditions for initiating a competition procedure were not met.

Following the closure of the complaint, the complainant appealed to the court, which ruled in favor of initiating a competition procedure against the GVH's decision.

In the subsequent competition procedure initiated in July 2024, the GVH investigated whether the savings presented in the 'rezsibox' on invoices issued by MVM Next for gas and electricity universal services violated laws against unfair commercial practices.
