CCA Approves Agronom's Acquisition of Direct Controlling Interest in Ruris Agro

11.07.2024 | 🇭🇷 Croatian competition authority

The Competition Commission clears Agronom's acquisition of a controlling stake in Ruris Agro, allowing for increased diversification and synergy within the agricultural industry.

The Competition Commission has approved Agronom's acquisition of a direct controlling interest in Ruris Agro, a company based in Županja that is involved in the wholesale of grains and oilseeds, as well as farming materials. Agronom, part of the Agrofert Group, aims to deepen synergy and diversification in its operations through this acquisition.

The notification of the concentration was received on June 11, 2024, with the Competition Commission inviting comments and opinions from interested parties to better understand the impact on relevant markets. The focus of the acquisition is on the commodities market, wholesale of raw materials, and retail of agricultural products in Croatia.

Agronom's presence in Croatia includes activities in agricultural production, trading and servicing agricultural machinery, animal feed production, and seed production. The acquisition is expected to strengthen cooperation between the companies and expand Agrofert's presence in areas where Ruris Agro operates.

Overall, the Competition Commission does not anticipate any anticompetitive effects from the acquisition, as it is unlikely to create new dominant positions or harm market competition.
