01.05.2024 | 🇵🇹 Portuguese competition authority
The Portuguese competition authority (AdC) has recommended measures to promote fair competition between taxis and ride-hailing services at Lisbon, Porto, and Faro airports. The goal is to create a level playing field for operators and ensure equal conditions for all, particularly addressing issues related to access fees and terminal access.
The AdC identified that ride-hailing services (TVDE) face disadvantages compared to taxis, such as having to pay fees for picking up and dropping off passengers after a certain number of free daily accesses, unlike other operators. Additionally, TVDEs lack direct access to terminal doors, putting them at a competitive disadvantage.
In response to these findings, the AdC issued recommendations to the government and airport concessionaire ANA. The recommendations aim to address the identified distortions and promote competition in the market, ultimately benefiting consumers by improving service quality and pricing.
