The Hungarian Competition Authority (GVH) is actively supporting the goals of the Hungarian EU Presidency, emphasizing the importance of fair market competition for economic competitiveness and the enlargement of the EU to the Western Balkans as a key national interest.

As an EU member state competition authority, the GVH oversees compliance with both national and EU competition laws, directly applying the provisions of the Treaty on the Functioning of the European Union (TFEU) in Hungary. The GVH also actively participates in EU competition networks to ensure the effectiveness and unity of competition law enforcement.

With decades of expertise, the GVH aims to contribute to the success of the Hungarian EU Presidency, particularly focusing on competitiveness and enlargement policies. The authority plays a central role in developing transitional economies in the region and supports these efforts through initiatives like the OECD-GVH Budapest Regional Competition Law Training Center.
