CMA Appoints Senior Directors for New Digital Markets Competition Regime

The Competition and Markets Authority (CMA) has appointed 3 senior directors to lead preparations for the upcoming digital markets competition regime under the Digital Markets, Competition and Consumers (DMCC) Act.


The CMA has appointed 3 senior directors to prepare for the new digital markets competition regime established by the DMCC Act. This regime aims to promote competition in digital markets and is expected to be enforced later this year.

Cat Batchelor, an existing CMA director, has been leading the preparation work and previously headed the Digital Markets Taskforce. Tania Van den Brande, joining from Ofcom, leads digital markets work there. Euan MacMillan, another existing CMA director, has experience in economic analysis and policy worldwide.

The appointments have been welcomed by Will Hayter, the Executive Director for Digital Markets, who highlighted the team's readiness to tackle harmful practices and drive positive outcomes for the UK economy.
