Estonia Joins International Association of Insolvency Regulators

30.06.2024 | 🇪🇪 Estonian competition authority

Estonia became a full member of the International Association of Insolvency Regulators, aiming to promote cooperation for a more transparent business environment.

Estonia joined the International Association of Insolvency Regulators (IAIR) through its Insolvency Service, starting from July 1, 2024. The association focuses on fostering collaboration among members to ensure fair and trustworthy business environments in their respective countries.

Membership in IAIR grants Estonia easy access to insolvency theories and practices from other countries, facilitating learning and experience-sharing. The global association was established in 1995 to enhance the effectiveness and efficiency of insolvency procedures and oversight.

Currently, European members of IAIR include Finland, Latvia, Poland, Serbia, Romania, in addition to Estonia. The Insolvency Service in Estonia operates independently under the Competition Authority, investigating potential unlawful behavior related to insolvency and bankruptcy proceedings.
