Neuro Energía y Gestión has been fined by the CNMC for manipulating the continuous intraday electricity market between August 23, 2022, and March 15, 2023, violating the REMIT Regulation.

The company engaged in issuing and withdrawing non-genuine orders to gain an advantage in executing sales contracts across the border with France by providing false or misleading signals on wholesale energy product supply, demand, and pricing.

The manipulation involved coordinating the use of digital certificates of 34 agents to control the processing queue of continuous intraday market offers and secure advantageous positions for executing sales contracts to France.

The behavior of introducing false or misleading signals regarding energy product supply, demand, or pricing corresponds to market manipulation or attempted market manipulation, breaching the EU Regulation No. 1227/2011.

The infringement by Neuro Energía y Gestión is classified as severe under the Electric Sector Law.
