29.10.2024 | 🇪🇪 Estonian competition authority
Enefit Power in Narva will increase the price of heat production due to the use of natural gas, with the Competition Authority determining a lower limit than initially proposed by the company.
The Competition Authority also imposed a condition on Enefit Power that if the 11th cogeneration block of the Baltic Power Plant is restarted for electricity production, Enefit must apply a coordinated heat price of 60.44 €/MWh.
Narva's district heating network is currently solely supplied by Enefit Power, which has its 11th cogeneration block of the Baltic Power Plant preserved since May this year. With no alternative options available, Enefit Power produces 100% of the necessary heat for Narva's district heating network using natural gas.
The Competition Authority stated that if the purchase prices of natural gas and carbon dioxide quotas decrease, Enefit Power must lower its heat selling price. However, if these prices rise, the continuous increase in heat production costs is not ruled out.
