In May 2024, the number of fiber optic lines in Spain reached 15.3 million, with a monthly growth of 90,430 lines, as reported by CNMCData. The majority of these lines were provided by Movistar, Orange, and Grupo MasMovil.
Additionally, the mobile sector gained 118,932 lines, totaling 59.65 million lines, a 2.5% increase from the previous year. Movistar, Orange, and Vodafone dominated the mobile market with a combined share of 69.7%.
Mobile portability exceeded 500,000 changes, with Movistar and MVNOs having a positive net balance, while Vodafone, Orange, and Grupo MasMovil experienced negative balances. The month ended with 52.47 million mobile voice lines with broadband, a 2.8% increase from 2023.
In contrast, the fixed-line telephony sector lost 27,997 lines in May, totaling 17.75 million lines. Moreover, 111,424 fixed numbers were ported, a 13.4% decrease compared to the previous year.
May concluded with 2.77 million NEBA local lines, with NEBA indirect access service accumulating 1.15 million lines, predominantly fiber-based.
