GVH's Digital Awareness Program to Protect More Children

18.11.2024 | 🇭🇺 Hungarian competition authority

The Hungarian Competition Authority's program aims to educate children about online risks and promote conscious internet use, with mentors from the Teach for Hungary program helping reach more students.

The Hungarian Competition Authority (GVH) is inviting schools to join its Digital Awareness Program, focusing on educating children about online dangers and promoting conscious internet use among young people. The program aims to raise awareness about the significance and protection of personal data shared online.

According to a report by the National Media and Infocommunications Authority (NMHH), Hungarian youth aged 8-15 spend an average of 4 hours daily on their smartphones, with over 2 hours dedicated to social media. The report highlights that device usage time increases with age, and young people use various platforms, formats, and content concurrently.

GVH's goal with the Digital Awareness program is to enhance children's awareness, especially at a young age, and emphasize the importance of protecting their data in the online environment.

GVH has partnered with the organizers of the Teach for Hungary program to train mentors on the Digital Awareness Program curriculum, aiming to empower more young individuals to become conscious internet users and consumers amidst the challenges of the digital world.

In addition to the Teach for Hungary program, schools can directly apply for GVH's educational sessions on digital awareness via email, offering tailored solutions for specific schools or grade levels.
