Significant Growth in Fiber Optic and Mobile Lines in Spain

In June, Spain saw a substantial increase in fiber optic connections to households and mobile lines, with key players dominating the market.


In June, Spain recorded 15.4 million fiber optic lines to homes (FTTH), showing a monthly growth of 54,122 lines. The majority of fixed broadband lines were held by Movistar, Orange, and Grupo MasMovil.

Additionally, 175,210 mobile lines were added, totaling 59.82 million, a 2.3% increase from the previous year. Movistar, Orange, and Grupo MasMovil accounted for nearly 70% of the mobile market.

Mobile number portability was below 500,000 changes, with a total of 439,513 transfers. While OMVs had a positive net portability balance, major players like Movistar, Vodafone, Orange, and Grupo MasMovil experienced negative balances.

Furthermore, the month ended with 52.69 million mobile voice lines with broadband, a 2.7% increase from 2023. However, there was a loss of 19,188 fixed telephone lines, totaling 17.73 million lines by the end of June.
