CNMC Investigates Potential Anticompetitive Practices in Mobile App Payment Services for Regulated Parking Areas

04.08.2024 | 馃嚜馃嚫 Spanish competition authority

The CNMC is investigating allegations of anticompetitive practices in mobile app payment services for regulated parking areas, involving companies with dominant positions in several localities.

The CNMC is investigating Estacionamientos y Servicios, S.A.U. (EYSA) and Empark Aparcamientos y Servicios, S.A.U. (EMPARK) based on a complaint regarding their management of regulated parking areas in various locations, where they may have restricted competitors' access due to their dominant positions.

The companies under investigation hold dominant positions in Toledo, Manzanares, Algemes铆, and Pozuelo de Alarc贸n in the regulated parking management market.

The CNMC is examining whether these companies engaged in anticompetitive practices that limited other companies' entry into the mobile app payment services market in these areas.

The initiation of these investigations under the Competition Defense Act does not prejudge the final outcome, with a maximum period of 24 months set for investigation and resolution.
