Latvia's Competition Authority (KP) has received a merger notification from Baltic Gas Solutions regarding the acquisition of Latvijas Propāna Gāze, prompting an investigation into the potential effects of the merger.

Baltic Gas Solutions, a newly established company within the AVH Grupp AS group, operates in various business sectors, including energy, real estate, metals, and publishing, with a recent expansion into Latvia's natural gas wholesale market.

On the other hand, Latvijas Propāna Gāze specializes in liquefied petroleum gas wholesale and retail, owning a network of filling stations and storage bases across Latvia.

The merger involves overlapping activities in the liquefied petroleum gas wholesale market in Latvia, raising concerns about competition in the sector.

Interested parties have until June 16, 2024, to provide feedback on the merger's potential impact on competition to the Competition Authority, either directly via email or through a public opinion survey on the Authority's website.
