19.09.2024 | 🇵🇱 Polish competition authority

The Competition Authority of Kenya visited the Polish Office of Competition and Consumer Protection to kick off a project under the Polish Aid program, focusing on sharing knowledge on consumer protection and market surveillance.

The Competition Authority of Kenya representatives visited various offices of the Polish Office of Competition and Consumer Protection (UOKiK) to learn about the Polish consumer protection and market supervision system. They participated in workshops, case study analyses, presentations, and job shadowing to observe the work of their Polish counterparts.

The visit aimed to exchange experiences and knowledge between the two competition authorities, focusing on market supervision, product safety, investigative procedures, the use of mystery shopping, artificial intelligence, e-evidence, digital tools, consumer communication, and alternative dispute resolution methods.

The collaboration is part of a project titled 'Institutional Support for the Competition Authority in Kenya in Strengthening the Consumer Protection System,' under the Polish Aid program, a development cooperation initiative of the Polish Ministry of Foreign Affairs in collaboration with governmental bodies like UOKiK.

The project seeks to enhance the capabilities of the Kenyan competition authority by sharing expertise in consumer protection and market surveillance, with upcoming training sessions planned in Nairobi for further knowledge exchange.
