The Office of Competition and Consumer Protection (UOKiK) has awarded prizes to students and graduates for outstanding master's theses in the areas of competition law and consumer protection. The winning works were from prestigious universities such as the University of Łódź, Jagiellonian University, and Adam Mickiewicz University in Poznań.
This year's laureates include Aleksandra Olbryk, Nicole Deneka, and Marcin Gronowski. The competition also marks the beginning of the selection process for the UOKiK Summer Camp '24.
The competition received 27 submissions, with 11 focusing on competition protection and 16 on consumer protection. The judging panel, consisting of prominent academics and legal practitioners in the field, emphasized the authors' independent thinking, conclusions, and extensive literature review.
Aleksandra Olbryk, Nicole Deneka, and Marcin Gronowski were the top three prize winners, with topics ranging from consumer law perspectives to concentration control in the energy sector. Additional recognition was given to Anna Jarecka and Michał Zajda for their exceptional works.
UOKiK continues to encourage doctoral candidates to participate in the competition for the best doctoral thesis on competition and consumer protection. The winners will receive financial rewards and the opportunity for their work to be published by the Office.
Furthermore, students are invited to explore topics for future competitions and potentially collaborate with UOKiK, offering both financial rewards and partnership opportunities.
The UOKiK Summer Camp, focusing on competition law, has launched its second edition, providing students with insights into antitrust law practices and offering paid internships at the Office.
Interested students in legal, economic, or related fields are encouraged to apply for the Summer Camp, where they will gain practical knowledge about the workings of the Office, including interactions with experts and special guests.
