02.02.2024 | 🇳🇱 Dutch competition authority

A consortium of Dutch telecom companies has withdrawn its complaint to the Netherlands Authority for Consumers and Markets (ACM) regarding the broadcasting rights for Eredivisie football matches after ACM shared its interim opinion stating that the agreement between Eredivisie CV (ECV) and media company EMM (Disney) does not violate competition rules.

Four Dutch telecom companies, including Delta Fiber, KPN, Odido, and VodafoneZiggo, have withdrawn their complaint filed with the ACM against Eredivisie CV (ECV) and media company EMM (Disney) over the broadcasting rights for Eredivisie football matches. The consortium had argued that the agreement between ECV and Disney violated competition rules and that the broadcasting rights should have been put up for public tender. However, after ACM shared its interim opinion stating that the agreement does not violate competition rules, the consortium decided to withdraw its complaint, and ACM did not issue a final decision.
