The Competition and Markets Authority (CMA) has issued a letter to the Private Healthcare Information Network (PHIN) commending its achievement of the bronze compliance milestone. This milestone reflects PHIN's commitment to enhancing transparency in the private healthcare sector.
PHIN has successfully met several key targets, including ensuring that 85% of consultants now publish their consultation fees for self-pay patients, surpassing the initial target of 80%. Additionally, 65% of private hospitals have begun to publish essential performance information, such as the length of stay and adverse event data, exceeding the 60% target set by PHIN.
To further support compliance, PHIN has developed and launched a new consultant website portal, which aims to streamline access to information for healthcare professionals. Furthermore, PHIN has partnered with specialized businesses to collect patient feedback, offering a complimentary service for hospitals to submit their data.
In addition, a new process has been introduced that allows consultants to verify the accuracy of data related to their practices. This initiative provides them with the opportunity to raise any issues before the data is published, ensuring greater accuracy and accountability.
The CMA has expressed its commitment to continue collaborating with PHIN to achieve full compliance with the Order, indicating ongoing support for the improvements in the private healthcare sector.
