Foxconn's Acquisition of Auto-Kabel Group Approved by German Antitrust Authority

29.08.2024 | 🇩🇪 German competition authority

The Bundeskartellamt has approved Foxconn's acquisition of the Auto-Kabel Group, citing minimal competition concerns and strong market competition post-merger.

The Bundeskartellamt has cleared Foxconn Interconnect Technology GmbH's acquisition of the Auto-Kabel Group under merger control law. Foxconn is a global tech company known for manufacturing electronic products, while Auto-Kabel Group specializes in power distribution systems for vehicles.

The merger mainly involves the manufacture and distribution of cable sets and wiring harnesses for vehicles. The overlaps between Foxconn and Auto-Kabel Group's activities are limited, with minor overlaps in the area of automotive wiring harnesses.

President of the Bundeskartellamt, Andreas Mundt, stated that the merger does not raise significant competition concerns. The presence of multinational suppliers ensures strong competition in the relevant markets post-merger, and the combined market shares are well below concerning thresholds.
