07.10.2024 | 🇵🇱 Polish competition authority
The President of the Polish Office of Competition and Consumer Protection (UOKiK) has launched an explanatory procedure regarding suspected illegal price-fixing agreements among companies selling drones, cameras, gimbals, and accessories in Poland. The investigation includes products from leading Chinese manufacturer SZ DJI Technology, widely used by recreational users, emergency services, and professionals in various fields.
The UOKiK President stated that if the evidence confirms the suspicions, the authority will commence antitrust proceedings and bring charges against the specific entities involved. Violators of competition law could face fines of up to 10% of their turnover, while managers responsible for the agreements may be fined up to 2 million PLN.
Businesses and managers involved in the alleged anticompetitive practices have the opportunity to reduce or avoid fines through leniency programs by cooperating with the UOKiK as a 'whistleblower' and providing evidence of the illegal agreements. The authority also encourages anonymous informants to report anticompetitive behaviors through a dedicated online platform ensuring complete confidentiality.
